Wanted: Cake, Ice Cream, Candle(s)

34 years ago today a bouncing baby boy was born. Ok, maybe I wasn’t bouncing. More than likely I was like most babies and came out screaming and yearning for a nice warm bath. It was that cold, blizzarding day in Cleveland, Ohio that I came into the world.
As I got ready this morning I pondered whether I felt any different now that I was 34. Not really — still wanted a shower, a cup of coffee, and a bowl of soggy cereal. I was still going to see an excited and eager to go outside Weimaraner. Like most “children” he had little understanding of my age. He was probably thinking the same thing he always thinks — Play? Play?
More than anything today I pondered all my experiences that were my 33rd year. 33 was a really good year in all respects. I was able to see a couple KU games, see a couple really great musicals, and was able to make it back for the holidays regardless of the weather. Saw my second dove season and third pheasant season and it was emphasized because Gunnar went along for both. It was a tumultuous year in my career but the seas have calmed down. I also made some new friends and rekindled several old friendships.
In the end, it is the memories and experiences that stick with you. The wrinkles, gray hairs, etc. are only things that help you remember those things. Here’s to #34 and even more memories to create.
